Position Summary

Pharmacists at Community Pharmacy Cooperative support the health and well-being of our community by providing safe, effective, and compassionate pharmacy services. This role is responsible for dispensing medications, counseling patients, supervising pharmacy technicians, and providing clinical services that promote positive health outcomes. As part of Community Pharmacy, the Pharmacist supports a welcoming and inclusive environment where patients, members, coworkers, and community partners are treated with respect and care. The pharmacist works collaboratively with the pharmacy team, other healthcare professionals, and the herb & supplement department staff to support informed decision-making, medication safety, and accessible healthcare.

Responsibilities

Pharmacy Services

● Review, interpret, and dispense prescriptions accurately.

● Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, and potential drug interactions.

● Consult with prescribers regarding medication therapy and patient care.

● Provide medication therapy management (MTM) and other authorized clinical services.

● Administer immunizations in accordance with applicable laws and protocols.

● Maintain accurate patient medication profiles and documentation.

● Protect patient privacy and comply with HIPAA requirements.

Pharmacy Operations

● Supervise and support pharmacy technicians.

● Oversee prescription processing to ensure accuracy and safety.

● Maintain appropriate medication inventory levels.

● Follow pharmacy policies, procedures, and dispensing standards.
● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

● Report medication errors, safety concerns, and compliance issues.

● Support daily pharmacy operations and workflow.

● Monthy Full Staff Cooperative Meetings.

Student Precepting

● Precept pharmacy students from UW Madison School of Pharmacy.

● Supervise and guide students during experiential learning rotations.

● Provide feedback on student performance and clinical skills.

● Support the development of students' pharmacy practice and patient counseling skills.

Qualifications

Required

● Active pharmacist license in good standing in Wisconsin.

● Knowledge of prescription dispensing and medication safety.

● Strong communication and patient counseling skills.

● Ability to supervise pharmacy technicians and work collaboratively.

● Strong attention to detail and clinical judgment.

● Ability to perform pharmacy calculations accurately.

Preferred

● Worker's Cooperative knowledge or experience.

● Experience precepting or mentoring pharmacy students.

● Training or certification in immunization administration.

● Experience providing medication therapy management.

● BLS certification.
